The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has issued a critical warning regarding fraudulent text messages targeting residents with claims of unpaid traffic tickets. These phishing attempts threaten individuals with suspended driving privileges to coerce immediate payment through malicious links that mimic official government domains. KYTC clarifies that it neither collects traffic ticket fees nor notifies citizens of violations via text. Recipients are strongly advised against clicking provided links and should instead report suspected activity to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center, the Federal Trade Commission, or the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General to mitigate risks of identity theft.
