TThe best documents disappear. You forget the interface, the scroll bar, the chrome around the words, and you are left alone with a single column of text doing exactly what it was meant to do — carrying a thought from one mind into another.
Getting there is mostly subtraction. A generous margin. A line length that never outruns the eye. A typeface with enough warmth to read for an hour without fatigue.
White space is not empty; it is the frame that tells the reader where to rest. On an A4 page, the outer margin gives the thumb somewhere to live and the eye somewhere to return.
When the same page becomes editable, none of that calm should be lost — the tools simply gather at the edges, ready when you reach for them.
