Latino Center for Health Small Grants Program Request for Applications 2026 - 2027 Immigrant Health in a Changing Policy & Practice Landscape PURPOSE The Latino Center for Health (LCH) at the University of Washington provides leadership to advance the health and well-being of Latino communities in Washington State and beyond. Guided by the principle that health is a human right, LCH fosters innovative, community-engaged research partnerships and supports the professional development of University of Washington students and faculty. LCH is pleased to announce the availability of two small research grants designed to strengthen collaboration between academic investigators and community-based organizations serving Latino communities. Successful proposals will bring together an academic investigator and a community partner, with a clear focus on improving the health of Latina/Latino/Latine individuals, families, or communities in Washington State. This year’s theme, Immigrant Health in a Changing Policy and Practice Landscape, invites proposals that examine how shifting policies and practices impact the health and wellbeing of immigrant communities in Washington State. PROPOSAL DETAILS Award Amount: Up to $20,000 (no indirect costs allowed) Anticipated Number of Awards: Two Application Deadline: December 15, 2025 Award Notification: February 2, 2026 Earliest Project Start Date: March 1, 2026 Project Duration: Up to 15 months Expenditure Deadline: All grant funds must be fully expended by May 31, 2027 Submission: Please submit complete applications as a PDF by email to latcntr@uw.edu Please note: No-cost extensions will not be granted. ELIGIBILITY Proposals must be co-led by an academic researcher and a community partner. Academic researchers serving as Principal Investigators must be faculty at one of our affiliated institutions, the University of Washington (Seattle, Tacoma or Bothell). This includes those with affiliate and acting faculty appointments, as well as Research Scientists who are permitted by their school, department, or research center to serve independently as a Principal Investigator on federal grants. Community partners must be a community-based organization (CBO) with a goal of promoting the wellbeing of the Latino population in Washington State. PRIORITIES Proposals will be evaluated on scientific merit, significance, innovation, methodological approach, strength of community partnership, and overall feasibility. Competitive applications will demonstrate a strong track record of collaboration and a clear, sustained commitment to the community partner. Research should focus on immigrant communities in Washington state, with priority given to projects addressing the 2026–2027 theme: the impact of policy changes on the health and well-being of immigrants, particularly Latino immigrants. Proposals may respond to one or both of the following priority areas: (1) the effects of recent policy changes on Latino immigrant communities in Washington state, and (2) strategies to mitigate or respond to these policy impacts. Applicants are encouraged to highlight the policy and practice implications of their anticipated findings. FUNDING LEVEL Applicants may request funding up to $20,000. This award can fund pilot research projects or build upon an existing project to support additional community-engaged research activities. Applicants are encouraged to seek matched funding from their department, organization or other units though not required. LCH will review only one proposal by a Principal Investigator or Co- Investigator during this review period. Similarly, only one project per community organization may be submitted during this review period. APPLICATION PROCEDURES Applications must be received by Monday December 15, 2025. For researchers at the University of Washington, applications are submitted to the Latino Center for Health and not submitted through the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), so no eGC1 is required.
