FAQs

Who is this CV guide for and why focus on ATS?

It targets South African first-time job seekers, matriculants, and entry-level applicants, including people not receiving callbacks after online applications. It explains that many CVs are rejected quickly by recruiters or by ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems).

How should skills and experience be formatted to improve ATS compatibility?

Skills should be listed in bullets or columns using industry-specific keywords matched to the job ad, typically including 5–8 soft or transferable skills. Experience should be listed most recent first, include volunteer or part-time experience, and use active verbs with measurable, achievement-focused bullet points.

What does the ATS-friendly CV template include?

It provides a copy-and-paste structure with header details, a professional summary, core competencies, professional experience, and education. It also includes tips to avoid unnecessary personal details (like ID or a photo) unless requested, to enhance ATS readability.
