Voluntary Furlough Agreement

Sep 17, 2026

This document serves as the official Voluntary Furlough Agreement for University of South Carolina (USC) employees. It outlines the essential requirements and terms governing the voluntary leave program, including salary suspension, maximum duration of ninety calendar days per fiscal year, and the handling of benefit deductions during unpaid cycles. Participants acknowledge that furlough days replace paid leave, must be recorded in the Time and Absence System, and preclude any work performance during the specified leave period. It also clarifies FLSA requirements for exempt staff and the non-grievable nature of the program under the State Employee Grievance Act. By signing this agreement, the employee and the department formalize the terms of the temporary leave, ensuring all procedural mandates regarding benefits and timekeeping are clearly understood and acknowledged for compliance purposes.
