The thesis applies the mind mapping technique to improve tenth grade students’ English writing skill at ATSMA N 1 Pleret during the academic year 2011/2012. It frames the study around writing instruction and students’ writing micro-skills, then positions mind mapping as both a learning strategy and a teaching approach. The research uses a classroom action research procedure across two cycles, including planning, actions and observations, reflections, and cycle summaries. The study then reports findings and provides conclusions, implications, and suggestions for teaching writing.
