A MEASURING FOR THE TEMPLATE 1- If the style of the door is LIP or OVERLAP (fig 1 or 2), use a tape measure to measure the amount of OVERLAP. Use the scales OUTSIDE the door edge of the template to draw a line on the template the distance of the OVERLAP. 2- If the door is FLUSH (fig. 3), measure the GAP. Use the scale INSIDE the door edge of the template to draw a line on the template the distance of the GAP. FAQs

How do you measure OVERLAP or GAP before placing the template?

For LIP or OVERLAP doors, measure OVERLAP and use the template scales outside the door edge to draw the line. For FLUSH doors, measure GAP and use the scales inside the door edge to draw the line at the required distance.

Where should the template be positioned during installation?

Place the template on the inside of the door, aligning the line from the measuring step to the bolt edge. Move it along the bolt edge to the desired position, then tape it in place.

What drilling steps are required for bolt guide holes and lock mounting?

Center punch and drill bolt guide holes using the specified drill bit for the appropriate bolt type. For lock mounting, center punch the lock mounting holes, drill with the specified bit size, then punch the key cylinder hole if key override is used and deburr all holes.
