Traditional Prediction Techniques - Week Two focuses on profections and solar returns as forecasting methods. It explains how to advance one sign or house per year, identify the Lord of the Year through the profected Ascendant, and connect that lord’s prominence across the natal chart and solar return. The material covers interpreting profections, evaluating the lord’s natal and solar-return condition, comparing charts to the natal promise, and extending analysis with transits, lunations, eclipses, and whole-chart profecting.

# Traditional PredictionTechniques Week Two:Profections and Solar Returns ## Profections ·Moves One sign/house per year(easiest touse with whole sign houses) ·Ruler of the profected Ascendant is Lord ofthe Year(LOY) ·That planet is featured in the Solar Return andNatal Morinus ProgramandProfections ## Assignment ·Draw up Profections and Solar Returns forsome of the main events of your life ·Also draw up at least 3 current years -prior,current and next (this is what I do in clientreadings.) ## Interpreting Profections ·Primarily used for determining Lord of theYear(LOY) ·Typically the LOY is the ruler of the sign theAscendant has moved to. ·Also take into account any planets in theProfected sign of the year in the natal-thatsign and house is activated in the natal. ·Difference of opinion on importance of housetopic. ## Evaluating the LOY ·Primary is the location, condition and aspectsof the LOY in the natal. ·Also consider location, condition etc of LOY inSolar Return. ·Worth exploring noting the sign and dignity ofthe LOY in the Profected chart itself. ·Planets in profected sign in the natal or SR arealso worth noting. ## Profection and Solar Return ·First evaluate Solar Return(SR)as stand-alonechart ● then consider SR in relation to natal ·give special attention to location of the Profected sign of year, and the profected LOYin the SR. ·As always, compare to the natal promise tosee how the year plays out. ## Profections and Transits ·Note all of the following —transits to LOY in natal or SR —transits of LOY to natal and to SR -transits through the profected sign of the year -retrogrades and stations by LOY —If Sun or Moon is LOY,the full and new moons canbe important, and eclipses are especially important.Note where lunations occur that tightlytrigger natal or SR planets or angles, especiallyhard aspects (conjunction, square, opposition). ## Profecting Entire Chart ·Profecting houses and planets other thanAscendant has precedence in Valens. ·William Lilly profects the entire chart. ·consider planets for changes of dignity ·consider where profected planets trigger natalplanets and angles ·consider where profected planets trigger SR ## Charts to Look at ·Natal chart ·Natal and Profection ·Natal and SR ·SR and natal

FAQs

How do profections work in this method?

Moves one sign or house per year, using whole sign houses as the easiest approach. The ruler of the profected Ascendant becomes the Lord of the Year (LOY).

How should the Lord of the Year (LOY) be interpreted?

Start with the LOY’s location, condition, and aspects in the natal chart, then consider similar factors in the solar return. Also note the LOY’s sign and dignity in the profected chart itself, plus relevant natal or solar-return planets in the profected sign.

What additional techniques are used alongside profections and solar returns?

Evaluate solar return as a stand-alone chart first, then compare it with the natal. Also track transits to and from the LOY, transits through the profected sign, retrogrades and stations of the LOY, and key lunations or eclipses that tightly trigger natal or solar-return planets and angles.
