What information must be included in a secondment offer letter?

The template requires the recipient’s name and address, the secondment post and service, start and termination dates, purpose, salary grade and spinal point pay, working hours and days, and the work location with possible council site changes.

How is the seconded employee’s salary handled?

The letter states the salary grade range and specifies the employee will be paid at a defined SCP spinal point amount. On return to the substantive post, salary is based on the grade for that post and includes applicable pay awards and/or increments during the secondment.

Can a secondment be ended early or extended?

Early termination requires agreement by all parties and at least a stated minimum notice period (or shorter notice if agreed by everyone). Extension is only possible by mutual agreement with all parties, including the substantive department.
