School Psychology Program Internship Agreement and Individualized Internship Plan For INTERN NAME (20__ to 20__) This document is the required written internship agreement for all school psychology interns at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Much of this agreement consists of internship content required by the National Association of School Psychologists and the UWRF School Psychology Program. The intern, all field-based supervisors (if multiple sites), and the university-based supervisor must review each section carefully. The plan must be agreed upon and signed. While school psychology internships vary in content, all internships must be based on the NASP Practice Model (see: HYPERLINK "http://www.nasponline.org/standards/practice-model/" http://www.nasponline.org/standards/practice-model/). By signing this agreement, the intern and all supervisors are agreeing the NASP and UWRF School Psychology Program requirements will be monitored and adhered to. Internship Structure The school psychology internship (SPSY 775 and SPSY 776) is a culminating experience for the School Psychology Program at UWRF. It is taken for 10 graduate credits (5 per semester) and is designed to ensure the intern gains knowledge and skills related to each of the ten NASP Domains of School Psychology Graduate Education and Practice (Standard II, 2010). The field site must be committed to a diversified learning experience, serving students and families across the age span, and it must carefully address each of the requirements included in this written agreement. Interns and field sites must avoid internships involving any one role or age range dominating the intern’s time (e.g., an “assessment only” internship or a “high school only” internship). Duration The internship will begin on August___, ______and continue through June___, _____. The intern is expected to follow the same daily schedule and yearly calendar as other school psychology staff employed by the local school system/agency. Unless it is agreed upon contractually, the intern is not required to remain in the employment of the local school system/agency beyond the term of the internship. Furthermore, the intern is not guaranteed employment beyond the term of the internship. Hours The intern is appointed on a full-time basis for one year or a half-time or more basis for two consecutive years. The intern must complete at least 1,200 clock hours of supervised experience. At least 600 of the 1200 total hours must be completed in a school setting. All hours will be logged on a spreadsheet supplied by the UWRF program, which will calculate hours across the age span (birth to 21) and be inclusive of culturally diverse experiences. Location: The internship will be performed at the following locations (list all building sites, school districts, addresses, and office phone numbers): Compensation The intern is provided a salary that is commensurate with his or her level of training, experience, and period of appointment. The intern will be paid in the amount of $________ for the term of the internship. Any work-related travel necessary to fulfill the requirements of the internship shall be reimbursed in accordance with policies of the local school system/agency. Responsibilities of the training program and university supervisor The university-based field supervisor agrees to provide the following: At least one site visit per semester to conduct an observation of intern performance. Online or in-person visits are at the discretion of the supervisor. Time after each site-visit observation for debriefing. Review of systematic written intervention reports submitted by interns. Organization and leadership of intern group seminars and/or on-line discussions. Supervision through additional face-to-face visits, email, or phone conversations as needed in addition to the above.
