Understanding the burden of COVID-19 is essential for navigating the pandemic. This study estimates Potential Years of Life Lost (PYLL) across 17 countries and territories worldwide, using age- and sex-specific COVID-19 death counts from primary national sources. The analysis covers the period from pandemic inception through August 2020, computing PYLL with 80 years as maximum life expectancy.
