MRP in GP - It’s not as hard as you think

Sep 11, 2026

Material Requirements Planning (MRP) is presented as a structured system to calculate the materials and components needed to manufacture a product. The content explains MRP’s three core steps: assessing on-hand materials and components, determining what additional items are required, and scheduling their production or purchase. It also covers inventory control techniques, highlighting cycle counting and how it verifies stock against inventory records, enabling wider audits when discrepancies are found.

It means investing more cash upfront, so check that this is offset by the cheaper prices. Bulk shipments may also cost more in terms of container space, but you’ll have fewer shipments to send out. @ 2023 Dynamic Communities MRPin GP-It’s not as hard as you think @ 2023 Dynamic Communities MRPin GP-It’s not as hard as you think • Cycle counting is where you regularly count small amounts of inventory. By checking just one type of product at a time, you can verify that the actual stock matches the numbers recorded in your inventory management software. If it doesn’t, you’ll know there’s a problem and you can perform a wider audit. Cycle counting doesn’t mean you never have to do a full stock take—you can just do it less frequently. @ 2023 Dynamic Communities MRPin GP-It’s not as hard as you think Material requirements planning (MRP) is a system for calculating the materials and components needed to manufacture a product. FAQs

What are the three primary steps of Material Requirements Planning (MRP)?

MRP covers inventorying materials and components on hand, identifying additional items needed, and scheduling production or purchase for those items.

How does cycle counting support inventory accuracy?

Cycle counting regularly counts small inventory amounts and compares actual stock with the numbers in inventory management software to flag problems early.

What configuration checks are recommended for running MRP in GP?

Enter values at the Site level, verify the Replenishment Method, set reorder points with safety stock, ensure the MRP checkbox is enabled for evaluated item/sites, and choose the appropriate order policy.
