Logarithmic and Trigonometric Tables, Revised Edition, provides extensively reset tables prepared under the direction of Earle Raymond Hedrick. The edition emphasizes reliability, readability, and careful proofing, with acknowledgments to contributors who reviewed complete proofs and compared values against many existing tables. The contents outline explanations of the tables, followed by common logarithms, condensed logarithms and antilogarithms, trigonometric function values, interpolation aids, and conversions between degrees and radians, plus power/root and natural logarithm tables.

Great care has been exercised to preserve and to increase the greatdegree of reliability that existed in the previous edition. For carefulreading of the proofs,I am indebted to my daughter Elisabeth andher husband,Mr.Richard L.Miller,to several of my own students, and to the following friends in other institutions, sometimes with theaid of their students:Professor C.H.Currier,Brown University;Pro-fessor H.T.Davis,University of Indiana;Professor H.B.Dwight,Massachusetts Institute of Technology;Professor W.B.Ford,Uni-versity of Michigan;Professor A.M.Harding,University of Arkansas;Professor C.G.Jaeger,Pomona College;Professors H.W.Kuhn and J.H.Weaver,Ohio State University;Professor L.S.Johnston,Uni-versity of Detroit;Professors A.J.Kempner and C.A.Hutchinson,University of Colorado;Professor G.W.Mullins,Barnard College(Columbia University);Professor L.M.Passano,Massachusetts Insti-tute of Technology;Professors H.L.Rietz,Roscoe Woods, and J.F.Reilly,University of Iowa;Professor E.E.Watson,Iowa State TeachersCollege at Cedar Falls;Dr.E.W.Wilson,Cambridge,Mass.;and Pro-fessor Kathryn Wyant,Athens College,Athens,Alabama. Each ofthese persons or groups has read the complete proof. With deepfeeling,I may record also that the late Professor Louis Ingold of the Universityof Missouri read the proofs up to page 54,and had sent me the last ofthese pages within a week of his sudden death on January 25,1935. These careful readings render the possibility of printers'

FAQs

What is the focus of the revised edition?

It delivers logarithmic and trigonometric tables that have been entirely reset in a new type face, with emphasis on increased clarity and high reliability.

What reliability measures are described in the preface?

The preface describes careful proof reading by multiple groups and a kept account of found errors versus those not found, supporting a very low probability of undiscovered printer’s errors.

Which kinds of reference tables does the contents list?

The table list includes common and condensed logarithms, trigonometric function values, interpolation values, degree-radian reductions, powers/roots/reciprocals, natural logarithms, and multiples of terms.
