LAURIE KELLY [gunsmoke85@msn.com] From: Wednesday,August 01,201210:31 AM Sent: Glenda Wiles To: Ravalli County Airport Advisory Board Subject: Airport board resign letter(Autosaved).doc Attachments: Date:August 1,2012 To:The Ravalli County Commissioners commissioners@rc.mt.gov Cc:Glenda Wiles gwiles@rc.mt.gov From:Dr.Laurel Kelly # Re:The Ravalli County Airport Advisory Board Please read the following letter to the Airport Advisory Board during their scheduled meeting at 1:00Wednesday,August 1,2012.I ask that it be included, unedited,in the minutes. I submit my resignation as a member of the Ravalli County Airport Advisory Board. My briefparticipation has been disappointing, disillusioning and an awakening.I sense what appear to beactions and activities less than forthright.I have questions about openness, honesty, and fairness inthe enforcement of rules and standards at the airport.I wonder to whom the responsibility ofenforcement is delegated and what oversight for fairness is given.I have gathered and studieddocumentation over the years and recognize a recurring pattern.Freewheeling verbal commitmentsseem to be common practice, yet later easily distorted or denied.I perceive that there may becollusion and strategizing among selected board members and officials to assure predeterminedoutcomes or to out-wit an opposing point of view. The atmosphere at RCA seems increasinglyadversarial and mean-spirited-lacking in teamwork, respect, and compromise.Efforts to illuminate orrectify perceived abuses are met with resistance, resentment,a quick response of excuse and/orjustification and possibly retaliation. As an“aviation outsider”I considered my contribution to the Board could be that of a respected, thoughtful Ravalli citizen with a commitment to an updated,first-class airport and with an open, honest point of view.In support of optimal airport improvements,I participated diligently in refuting theinaccurate and false statements propagated by airport opponents. Under the present circumstances I can no longer contribute as a board member, but will continue tostand with those who strive for an improved, quality airport.I hope these comments are heard andthat something constructive can come out of it. 1
