FAQs

What areas are covered under walkways and stairs?

The checklist covers surface condition, slip and trip hazard control, step order, handrail security, moss/mud/grass removal, anti-slip treatment on hard surfaces, lighting after dark, and ensuring rainwater drains and covered drains are clear.

How does the checklist address emergency preparedness?

It requires exit paths to be unobstructed, emergency assembly areas to be signposted, and clearing dead branches and leaf litter to reduce bush-fire risk.

What traffic and grounds items must be checked?

Traffic checks include posted speed limits, speed humps, designated disabled parking, signage for no-parking zones, vehicle parking compliance, minimized blind spots, pothole-free driveways, and separating pedestrian walkways from traffic. Grounds checks include maintaining gardens, removing branches and grass clippings, keeping beds free of litter and sharp debris, ensuring rubbish bins are emptied regularly, and confirming garden furniture is safe.
