Empowering Digital Transformation in Cities - U4SSC Key Performance Indicators - Introduction

Sep 13, 2026

Empowering digital transformation in cities through a structured framework of U4SSC Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) provides a consistent method for collecting data and measuring progress across smart and sustainable city priorities. The KPIs enable cities to track progress over time, disseminate best practices, and set standards for meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The framework defines KPI dimensions spanning ICT, infrastructure, water and sanitation, energy, transport, public sector, innovation, employment, waste, urban planning, air quality, and more, supported by standardized interpretation, calculation methodology, and data sources.
