Students will be notified about assignments for apprentice clients. Students are required to attend the weekly Clinic Class meeting (see below for days/times). Completion of 25 hours of observation and completion of all health and safety requirements (i.e., CPR, background check, drug screening, immunizations, etc.). CREDIT HOURS: All students must register for 2 credit hours of CSD 6710 in the spring semester. Exceptions require approval from your academic advisor. A student must maintain continuous registration throughout the Speech-Language Pathology graduate program until all clinical/course work requirements have been completed. Application for re-admission to the program will be required if a student is unable to meet this requirement. REQUIRED MATERIALS: Students must be familiar with all of the instructions and materials in the Clinic Manual on Canvas, as well as the CSD 6710 Canvas page. Students must be registered in SimuCase to access simulated cases assigned throughout the semester. ASSIGNMENTS: Client Assignments Students enrolled in Speech-Language Clinical Practicum in their first spring semester of the graduate program are considered “Beginning clinicians.” During their previous semester, they received initial training in basic clinic procedures through a combination of apprenticeship with a second year graduate clinician and clinical supervisor, and lectures in the clinic class. On average, students will have 3-5 treatment clients (range: 4-6 client contact hours per week). Number of clients and contact hours may vary depending on student assignments. Additionally, students will be expected to participate in assigned diagnostic assessments throughout the semester. Mandatory Clinic Meetings Mondays 1:30 – 2:45 Location: Clinic classroom *NOTE: Occasional class meetings may be held on Zoom, as needed. This will be announced prior to the meeting, and we will use the following Zoom link for all of those sessions.
