Continue Agile project plan template Our 2019 Project Management Software User Report looked at trends that affect the project management industry as a whole. In this report , we focus specifically on the agile commands and tools they use to monitor projects , manage workflows , organize tasks , and collaborate in a shared workspace. Finding the right project management software can be especially difficult for Agile teams. Do you choose a general purpose tool that is very well suited to most workflows? Or do you choose software designed to support Agile's workflows in particular? Invest in the wrong solution and you may end up paying for features that you don't use , or maybe pay for a tool that you hate to use , but should because it's good enough. That's why we interviewed hundreds of your colleagues to find out what tools they use to support agile processes , what criteria they used to evaluate and compare these tools , and what results they've seen from their investments. Knowing how your colleagues are rated and budgeted software can help you make an informed buying decision , saving you time and money. We will also give you some tips for your own search software. We recommend reading the full report , but if you have little time , you can move on to the key takeaway section to summarize our findings. Go to: Who uses agile management tools? The introduction of Agile Project Management ( PM) tools is high for IT teams , software/engineering ,development ,000 and project/ product management departments. Scrum is agile's most popular method , followed by a hybrid approach. To determine who uses Agile project management software , we asked respondents about their organizations and the departments in which they work. Our results show that while Agile methods are used in a wide variety of industries and business sizes , if you look at the teams in those companies that practice Agile , they are mainly in IT , software development/engineering , and project management. We also asked respondents what method Agile uses their team. While Scrum is the most popular , the hybrid or mixed approach does not lag behind. Hybrid Agile is a combination of Agile with non-Agile techniques. Blended Agile is a combination of two or more agile methods. How do companies use agile project management tools? Flexible teams mainly use PM software to support stand-up meetings , planning and sprint/iteration review. The most commonly used features are collaboration , task boards , and resource management. Wireframes are the most ignored function of PM software by those who have them , while wikis are the most coveted by those who do not. The largest percentage of respondents use their Agile PM tool for one to three years. Now that we know who's using Agile PM tools , let's see what they use to use For. We provided respondents with a list of Agile methods and asked them to choose which ones they use PM software to perform and support. This information is important because the practice you use software to perform and support should be clearly evident in the functionality of the tool. As a potential buyer , think about your needs and look for tools with functionality that supports and simplifies these processes. For example , stand-up meetings are when groups consider progress , problems , and open working elements. Software features that will support stand ups include task boards , collaboration functions (comments , mentions , activity streams) and general workspace , whether it's a task board or a video call for distributed groups or team members. We then provided respondents with a list of software features and asked them to choose whether they had it and use it , whether they had it and didn't use it , or whether they didn't have it , but wish they had it. The most commonly used functions of Agile PM software are not surprisingly , that collaboration , task boards (i.e. task management) , resource management and time tracking are at the top of the
