Instructions guide 6th grade learners in creating tornado-related visualizations using Google Sheets and the CODAP tool when certain chart types like dot plots cannot be generated automatically in Sheets. The steps cover copying selected data from Google Sheets, creating a new CODAP document, converting data into a table, inserting a graph, and choosing plotted variables. It also explains refining the display by selecting a subset (e.g., a county) and using the graph “eye” menu to show only selected cases.

FAQs

How can you limit the dot plot to a smaller subset of the data?

Select the information you are interested in within your table (such as Adair County), then use the graph “eye” menu and choose “Display Only Selected Cases.”
