This study investigates the profile of natural sciences questions in the New Enem exam, acknowledging its significant role in shaping the teaching of this subject in classrooms due to the importance placed on the exam during curriculum planning. Employing categorical content analysis, delimited by PCN+ content and PNLD textbooks, the research successfully categorized the natural sciences New Enem questions presented from 2009 to 2014, based on the presence of interdisciplinarity or contextualization. The findings revealed that, despite official guidelines, the exam predominantly adopts a disciplinary (contextual) approach. Although questions exhibiting an interdisciplinary character were present, they were not evidently reflected in teachers' pedagogical practices. In conclusion, there is a clear necessity to establish greater cohesion between the content taught and the content assessed in students' examinations, ensuring a more integrated and effective learning experience.
