X-Rays serves as the debut collection of poetry by the acclaimed American writer David Ray, originally published by Cornell University Press in 1965. This volume features forty-one distinctively personal poems that draw inspiration from childhood memories, life incidents, and reflections on everyday objects and places. Ray demonstrates a unique command of language, employing a sparse yet emotionally resonant style that invites readers to engage deeply with his insights. Through poems like "Chiggers" and "The Door Opens," the author reveals his sensibilities with remarkable honesty, establishing himself as a poet of significant range. This compilation offers a comprehensive look at the early artistry of a poet who transforms simple, evocative moments into profound explorations of human experience and perception.
