Dissatisfied with his white fur, which makes him too conspicuous among the white foxes and owls chasing a white hare, he decides to seek a more colorful environment. Upon arriving in a lush green forest, the polar bear finds that his white fur is still an object of strange attention from the forest animals. He then attempts to camouflage himself by taking on the color yellow, inspired by the Tecoma stans flowers. However, this yellow disguise only makes him stand out even more, being as obvious as turmeric, curry, and saffron. The story explores themes of identity, conformity, and self-acceptance as the polar bear grapples with whether to change his appearance to fit in. The narrative is presented in a child-friendly manner, with vibrant illustrations accompanying the text. The story's creation was supported by a consortium including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), World Vision, and the Australian Government, under the All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development (ACR GCD) initiative.
