He walked and talked with them for forty days. When He went back into Heaven, the believers began sharing the good news about Jesus. They met in the temple courts, and in each others' homes, sharing meals together and praising God. The people that lived in Jerusalem and the surrounding areas were very excited when they knew the disciples were coming to town. Miracles were happening every day. The sick and lame were brought into the streets for the disciples topray for them, and all of them were healed. More and more people believed in Jesus and joined with the believers. The people listening and being healed were very happy. But, the high priest and the rulers were not! They were not only jealous of Peter and John and the other disciples, but they did not like hearing that Jesus had raised from the dead. The disciples were arrested and put into jail. During the night, however, an angel appeared to the prisoners and opened the doors of the jail. The angel told them to go back to the temple courts and keep telling the people about Jesus. The next morning the high priest sent for the prisoners. The officers could not find them. They found the jail locked, with guards standing at the door, but noone inside.
