It made grim reading, especially to all thosein the bread business like Wallace and Gromit.Their new bakery was up-and-running and theyhad loyal customers all over town.It had beenquite a challenge turning their semi-detached house into a working windmill, but with a littleof Wallace's inventiveness and a lot of Gromit'shard work, they had managed it. Downstairs, they had converted the kitcheninto an industrial-scale bakery, with mixingmachines and bakery ovens. The windmill sailson the front of the house were now workingperfectly, providing enough wind power to turnthe huge millstone installed in Wallace's bedroom. The sails had a dual purpose too,as rotatingadvertising boards emblazoned with:"Top Bun,Wallace and Gromit's Traditional Bakery”. At five a.m.sharp,Wallace's alarm clocksprang to life.It was time for him to get up.TheTop Bun customers expected freshly baked breadfirst thing in the morning, and it was Wallace andGromit's job to deliver. But the alarm clock was 4 having no effect.Wallace had stuffed his earsfull of cotton wool so he could get to sleep.Itwasn't easy dropping off with your bed next to aworking millstone, grinding wheat into flour dayand night. Gromit, who had been up for hours bakingthe bread, decided to switch to a more ingeniousmethod of waking Wallace up.He filled a balloonwith water and hooked it on to a windmill sailas it passed the kitchen window. As the windmillturned, the balloon was carried up,up,up tothe top, where it dropped from the sail and fellthrough a skylight in the roof.It was a direct hit.The balloon burst on to Wallace's face and thewater woke him from a lovely cheesy dream. “Oh ...Uhhh!"he spluttered.“I was justgetting up,lad!” Downstairs,Gromit was now manoeuvring a forklift truck to remove a large batch of loavesfrom the ovens. On hearing Wallace's call,he putthe forklift into reverse so he could hit the 'Get-U-Up'lever on the kitchen wall. Then Gromitwent back to the ovens where his loaves werenow crusted to perfection. The activation of the Get-U-Up systemset cogs and pulleys in motion. In an instant, ahydraulic system under Wallace's bed started totip up the headboard end.Wallace disappearedunder the sheets and shot out from the foot of thebed. With precision timing,a metal chute fromthe mill grinder swung round to receive himand Wallace slid down the chute along with thebatches of newly ground flour. “With you in a jiffy...”he called to Gromitas he fell.“Tally ho!"” It was a fast and thrilling helter-skelter ofaride
