VOLVO CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT - INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION - CAN bus interface for EU Data Act Direct Access

Nov 4, 2026

Installation instructions for adding a CAN bus interface to Volvo Construction Equipment to enable one-way machine data output in a machine-readable format for the EU Data Act Direct Access. The guide covers safety awareness, dependency on specific and standard tools, and reference to Volvo tightening torques for other bolted joints. It provides step-by-step wiring and connector routing, grommet hole drilling, fuse box and busbar plug handling, installation of the control box, and securement when connectors are unused. It also lists CAN message signals, IDs, cycle times, scaling and units for vehicle speed, machine hours, body position, active gear, fuel consumption, engine speed, and fuel level.
