Congratulations are due to the winner of the annual Sigma TauDelta poetry contest and to the 15 MSUB students whose work wasaccepted for publication, and to others who, though their work doesnot appear here, are on the road to future meaningful and evocativeartistic expression. It is our hope that you will continue to produceliterary writing and art and that your names may soon appear, eitheragain or for the first time,in a future edition of The Rook. Bernard QuetchenbachProfessor of EnglishFaculty Adviser DEDICATION Dr.William KamowskiDr.St.John Robinson Dr.St.John Robinson At first, his intensity and put-you-on-the -spot teaching stylecould be unsettling, but Spanish students grew to respect and love Dr.St.John Robinson for guiding them through a language and culture withenthusiasm and passion. One student remarked,"His anecdotes abouthis life and events when he lived in Spain were always delightful.Hisability to produce from his memory and experience a Spanishvocabulary word, regardless of its obscurity, was impressive." When asked about his colleague,Dr.Thomas Regele commented,"It has been wonderful to work with such a completeprofessional.I have never worked with someone more dedicated to theprofession, nor have l ever worked with someone with whom it is soeasy to get things done.I suspect that the latter is due,in great part, tothe former. In any case,it has been a great pleasure and an honor towork with St.John Robinson.I have always been, and continue to be,impressed by his commitment to our students, our program, ouruniversity, and our community. Dr.Robinson's commitment to the Spanish program at MSUBhas helped shape a bright future for many students who have carriedthat dedication into their lives and community. As Dr.Regele pointsout,"One of his former students, who is now a successful professionalin the community, recently remarked that St.John is an amazingprofessor who really cares about his students. He has been this student's teacher, mentor, and boss, and he will always be her friend.Icould not agree more." The Rook Staff would like to thank Dr.St.John Robinson for his35 years of service at MSUB,and we wish him the best in hisretirement. Dr.Will
