Duolingo Application is examined as an English-speaking learning medium for seventh-grade students at SMP Singosari Delitua. The study employs an experimental group and a control group, with the experimental group receiving speaking treatment using Duolingo while the control group practices without it. Findings indicate Duolingo improves students’ speaking ability, reflected by a higher mean deviation in the experimental group (24.07) compared with the control group (4.87). Results emphasize motivation, confidence, and practice flexibility at home and in daily life.

Speaking Ability; Duolingo Application | Duolingo is an educational category like playing games, so the students can also use it casually without pressure and also easy to accept and absorb because of flexibility. This research was conducted to determine the ability of the students to speak by using the Duolingo Application. The population of this research was the seventh-grade students of SMP Singosari Delitua. The sample consists of 61 students. This research required two groups of students namely the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group was treated by using the Duolingo application while speaking, whereas the control group was treated without the Duolingo application. The result of this study indicates that the use of Duolingo improves the ability of the students to speak. it can be seen from the deviation of the experimental group and the control group. The mean
deviation of the experimental group is 24,07 it means that the deviation is high. This group was taught by using the Duolingo Application Mean of the deviation in control group is 4,87 means that the deviation is low. This group was taught without using Duolingo Application, by using this application made the students understand the material and students were more motivated to learn and brave enough to speak English with the students. Students get the opportunity to get some turn in practicing material in everyday life since the students can practice at home since Duolingo can be accessed anywhere and everywhere, this application reduces boredom in learning English and facilitates remembering and practicing material in a positive attitude towards the application at school. it is also one of the effective media in teaching learning and speaking for the students | INTRODUCTION Speaking is one of four language skill, which is basic function of language as communication instrument. It is important for the learners to practice their capability and their understanding, how to send idea, and how to spell word well. In this case the students’ motivation and interest are very needed to make the process of their understanding more easily. Some of figures also say that speaking is gold silent is silver. Those expression showed us about the importance of speaking skill. The ability of the students at seventh grade students of SMP Singosari are needed to improve since most of the students are never speak English with the teacher and the other students. In the teaching learning process , most of the teachers hope all the students interest and interactive when they are learning, but it is not as easy as they hope; it needs various ways in reaching the target. In this case, the application will make the students more interest in studying English especially to improve the ability of the students in speaking English, the teacher have to be creative in the teaching learning process so that the students interest and have self-confidence in speaking English such as using the application to help them in speaking English. In globalization era, technology has a major part in every sector of human life, including education thus electronic learning(E-Learning) has now been moved from traditional learning ( Basuki ( 2019).
