The Story of BREXIT is a satirical parody written in the iconic style of classic Ladybird educational books for children, repurposed here for an adult audience. Authored by J.A. Hazeley and J.P. Morris, the text explores the British decision to leave the European Union through a lens of biting humor, gentle irony, and cultural commentary. It addresses themes of British exceptionalism, perceived differences between Britain and continental Europe, and the national character of maintaining calmness and politeness during complex political transitions. The book provides a whimsical, illustrated look at the socio-political climate surrounding Brexit, focusing on absurd comparisons—such as the availability of snack foods and window-opening habits—to mock the seriousness of the debate. It serves as both a critique and a playful documentation of the national mood during this historical shift, capturing the specific, dry wit associated with contemporary British satire. The content is presented in a simple, straightforward tone that contrasts sharply with the magnitude of its subject matter, offering readers a comedic perspective on a highly divisive modern event while paying homage to a beloved British publishing tradition.
