This thesis analyzes how Jungian archetypes, especially the Shadow archetype, appear in the main characters of the Disney movie Luca (2021). The study emphasizes the symbolic and psychological dynamics created by narrative in animated films and frames the research aim as identifying and analyzing Shadow representation through literary psychology. Using a qualitative, analytical approach grounded in Carl Gustav Jung’s theory, the research finds that Luca’s Shadow aspect is reflected in Luca’s fear that drives self-development. The work concludes that archetype-focused interpretation enriches film analysis and supports further psychological studies in popular media.
