Inspired to Teach explores how the Holy Spirit’s person and work directly shape Christian teaching and education. It argues that teachers can point learners toward God because divine inspiration is necessary for effectively guiding students to truth, illumination, and spiritual understanding. The essay also proposes parallels between the Spirit’s role in revealing and guiding truth and the educator’s responsibility to teach in ways that illuminate minds, shape hearts, and model spiritual power in real-world Christian classrooms.

FAQs

What does it mean for a teacher to be inspired?

The essay connects inspiration to divine direction through the Holy Spirit, arguing that the teacher’s work can meaningfully guide learners toward God and truth only with spiritual power.

How does the Holy Spirit relate to Christian education?

The Holy Spirit illuminates hearts and minds toward Christ, and Christian education through the teacher should similarly illuminate students with God’s truth and kindle their hearts to care about God more deeply.

Why does the essay emphasize teaching truth?

The Holy Spirit teaches revealed truth as ultimate and perfect truth, while educators teach truth as a practical application of governing or general truth; the essay highlights differences but stresses that education should still model the Spirit’s truth-forward work.
