Jesus returned to the region of Galilee filled with power from the Holy Spirit. People in the region heard news about Jesus and came to hear him teach in the synagogues. And everyone praised him. Luke 4:14-15 When Jesus came to Nazareth, his hometown, he went as always to the synagogue on the Sabbath. Luke 4:16 Jesus stood up and went forward to read the Scriptures. The attendant handed him the scroll which contained the words that the prophet Isaiah wrote many years before. Luke 4:16-17 Jesus unrolled the scroll and read,“The Lord has put his Spirit in me and has chosen me topreach good news to the poor. Luke 4:17-18; Isaiah 61:1 “He has sent me to tell prisoners that they are free; to tell blind people that they can see again; to set free those who are treated unfairly; and to proclaim that this is the year when the Lord will show his favor to people.” Luke 4:18-19; Isaiah 61:1-2 Then Jesus rolled up the scroll, handed it to the attendant, and sat down.
