(Continued on Page 2) ## Issues Plea for Emergency Fund The Sediticn Trials Victor Riesel.of the NewYork Post, recently wrote."Thealleged seditionists made such afarce of American justice thatthe government now is reluctantto test its right to jail thosewhose acts,it is charged.gave.comfort to the nation's enemies. "Many of the defendants in the mass corspiracy trial were admitted friends of Nazi agents. Others strutted about in uni- forms of the Ku Klux Klan and the German American Bund. Some were publicly proud of their programs to liquidate mil- lions of Jews and Catholics. "Yet today these persons areat liberty一martyrs to their hysterical followers. "The death of gentle Justice Eicher has released them be cause the Law is vague on the substitution of a new judge. "The Dept.of Justice did not OPPose the mistrial decision be- cause it did not want to prose- cute Joseph MeWilliams and his colleagues for another eight months and then have the Dis. trict of Columhia Court of Ap- peals rnle that the trial should have ended with Justice Eicher's death." So the trial is off.And it has not been decided whether the promoters of the Chrietian Mob- ilizers, the Bund and the Klan are a menace ora nuisance. Almost a decade of painstaking FBI investigation and three years of Justice Dept.legal work may he wasted. Atty.Gen.Biddle is report- edly thinking of quashing the indictments.Despite the mi trial, these nationalists still are charged with having attempted to spread matiny among U.S. servicemen. Biddle would be doing a great injustice to liherals,to labor and to relicious minorities,if he quashed these indictments. emple Beth-EL Broad &Glenham Sts.
