This story follows a spoiled Young Goat who, inspired by the respect shown to Uncle Goat, attempts to impersonate him. Young Goat crafts a makeshift beard from cornsilk and tries to scare the bunnies, who mistake him for Uncle Goat due to his disguise and treat him with deference, fulfilling his initial desire. However, the sheep family is not easily fooled. They notice discrepancies, such as Young Goat's newly sprouted horns and his bleating, which sounds like a young goat's cry. The sheep then test Young Goat's knowledge by asking him to identify what is covering the mountain peak and what field they are looking at. Young Goat incorrectly answers 'smoke' instead of 'cloud' and 'grass field' instead of the actual name of the field, leading to amusement among the sheep. They reveal that Uncle Goat is wise and knowledgeable about the world. Embarrassed, Young Goat removes his fake beard and admits he only wanted to experience being Uncle Goat but found the role more challenging than expected. The story concludes with everyone laughing together, appreciating the humor in Young Goat's failed attempt at deception and the realization of the wisdom associated with Uncle Goat's true identity.
