TO THE CANDIDATE
Telluride Association is pleased to invite you to apply for a place in the 2016
Telluride Association Sophomore Seminars! TASS aims to prepare students
for a life of leadership and public service through an intense education in
critical Black and ethnic studies, democratic self-governance, and communal living. All students attend our program on full scholarships. Additional need-based travel and work replacement scholarships are also available. While TASS welcomes applications from high school sophomores ofall backgrounds, students from historically underrepresented groups—especially African Americans and those from financially disadvantaged backgrounds—are particularly encouraged to apply. You are receiving this
mailing because a teacher, counselor, or someone else who knows you thinks that you meet the high standards required of those applicants admitted to our program. The application asks about your background. It also asks you to write a series of essays and short answers, which are the most important part of your application. We hope you find the experience of writing the essays and short answers personally
