This English storybook, titled "Syonzola and His Lies," by Phoebe Sibomana and illustrated by Benjamin Mitchley, is a tale about a mischievous man named Syonzola who lives in a faraway village with his son. Syonzola has a penchant for lying, which makes him disliked by the villagers. He frequently plays pranks by shouting for help at night, only to laugh when the villagers rush to his aid, finding no danger. His son witnesses these pranks and grows accustomed to his father's deceitful behavior. However, one particular night, his son hears Syonzola screaming for help, but this time, no one emerges from their homes to assist. The story delves into themes of deception, trust, and the consequences of one's actions, hinting at a potential turning point or climax where Syonzola's lies may finally catch up with him. The book is copyrighted to the Sibomana Foundation and allows for commercial use and adaptation, provided the copyright and credits are maintained. The narrative subtly explores the impact of a consistently dishonest individual on a community and the potential isolation that arises from such behavior.
