A critical, provocative philosophical and sociopolitical argument framed as a “suicide note,” anchored by an epigraph from Socrates’ Phaedo. The work claims that suppressing speech can test freedom-of-expression, then develops two large parts: “God is Technology” and “A Vendetta Called Revolution.” It explores nihilism, reason, theology’s evolution, genetic and cultural dynamics, the singularity, and concluding background research plus bibliography, culminating in a “punchline.”

suicide note Mitchell Heisman Ordinary people seem not to realize that those who really apply themselves in the right way to philosophy are directly and of their own accord preparing themselves for dying and death. If this is true, and they have actually been looking forward to death all their lives, it would of course be absurd to be troubled when the thing comes for which they have so long been preparing and looking forward. —SOCRATES, PHAEDO This work is free and licensed by Mitchell Heisman for copying and distribution under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License. FAQs

What is the role of the Socrates epigraph in the work?

The epigraph from Socrates’ Phaedo frames the idea that those who prepare for death without fear would not be troubled when it arrives.

How does the work connect freedom of speech to its own suppression?

It proposes that repressing the work can itself verify a hypothesis about freedom of speech, treating suppression as a test case.

What are the two main parts of the argument?

Part I centers on “God is Technology,” linking theological ideas to technological and biological evolution. Part II, “A Vendetta Called Revolution,” examines historical and political developments alongside claims about democracy, genetic suicide, and human self-destruction.
