n Mark your paper and use the answers & explanations.
n Understand the marking criteria and set achievable targets. Our recommendation is as follows: | | | --- | --- | | 1. Target 1 (600 per section) achieve minimum requirement
2. Target 2 (690 per section) reach the average score of NIE/Kaplan cohort.
3. Target 3 (730 per section) the march that would put you in 70th + percentile
4. Primary Target (800 per section) Strong score in the top 90th Percentile
5. Advanced target (820+ per section) VERY strong and safe UCAT score going into very high 99th percentile category. | | | For section 5 SJT – Getting a score in the 700+ range will place you in a very comparative position against other candidates. But we recommend for you to aim for 750+ . | | | +
Step 2 – Actively preparing for the UCAT
n Timelines will differ depending on when you will be sitting the UCAT.
n For most candidates, proper preparation means having gone through at least
5,000 practice questions before sitting the UCAT.

n Three elements of UCAT preparation
1. How to?– UCAT questions are not very difficult to solve, therefore for most candidates this is the quickest stage of preparation.
2. Speed – speed development will take the longest part of your preparation time. Understand that everyone has a strong and a weaker section. The weaker section will take the longest time to get quick at. Do not panic and allocate your time proportional to your skills.
3. Endurance – You must allocate about 20% of you total prep time on developing your endurance. While completing mini-quizzes and short intervals practice is beneficial; it does not develop your endurance. Make sure to complete full 2-hr practice tests on regular intervals. | | | + Australian UCAT Statistics 2022
The scaled score range for each cognitive subtest (and the SJT) is 300 – 900 and the range for the Total Score (sum of the four cognitive subtests) is 1200 – 3600.

Ø Note: In 2022, the required UCAT score for rural and remote candidates was much lower across the board amongst all universities. However, for all non-rural candidates it was mostly above 95th percentile range**
Ø Some universities where a lower UCAT scores were considered were UNSW, Monash and UWA.
Ø Also, Adelaide, Curtin and UWA had a much lower UCAT cut-off for their local state applicants, which was attributed to COVID-related challenges.
