STAR Early Literacy is a computer-adaptive interim assessment designed to measure the literacy and early numeracy skills of emergent readers in grades pre-K through 3. It supports district use for student learning objectives under a target-setting model and offers supplemental assessment options with associated growth models, including gain score and growth-to-proficiency approaches. The assessment takes about 15 minutes, delivers immediate, easy-to-read reports for administrators, teachers, students, and parents, and provides data that can be interpreted through multiple lenses such as screening, progress monitoring, goal-setting, and growth modeling.
