FAQs

What enclosure door and locking requirements apply to the metering cabinet?

The enclosure door must include a device to secure it open at 90° or more, and it must be secured closed using a handle-operated latching mechanism that is lockable with a padlock having a 5/16" lockshaft.

How should the metering conduit be routed and limited in length and bends?

Metering conduit must enter through the bottom and be installed behind the hinged meter panel without interfering with test switches. It must not exceed three 90° bends or sweeps, and maximum length limits apply: up to 90 ft cannot exceed 120 ft, with minimum conduit diameters of 1-1/4" (up to 90 ft) and 2" (over 90 ft up to 120 ft). A pull wire is required.

What are the PT secondary safety switch specifications and related conduit routing?

A three-phase safety switch is installed on the 120V (secondary) side of each set of PTs and must include a ground bus for X2 connections. Conduit must run from the PTs to the safety switch and then to the metering enclosure, with watertight hubs sized for the required conduit.
