TT is one of the many blessings of religious life that weI need not “bring back Christ into Christmas”.We know onlytoo well-but do we all know well enough? It is hard to keepthe spirit of the world completely out of the cloister.Perhapsthere are instances where the Christmas meditations, even ofreligious, and the Christmas cards they send out, need somere-consideration.In recent years thinking people in the worldhave started a concerted effort to bring Christ back into Christ-mas,to replace Santa Claus who had replaced Christ.Resultsare not lacking.People came to realize that peace on earth, which is,after all,the burden of the Christmas message, hadtaken on a meaning no longer in keeping with the happeningsof Bethlehem and with the plan of God revealed in the song ofthe heavenly hosts. Except for the few,Christmas in the world has become asecular feast,a business proposition. Its message is no longerunderstood, nor is it interpreted in a way to suit the ends ofmen, mostly business men.Peace on eart
