DID YOU KNOW SIENA COLLEGE HAS A TEST-OPTIONAL POLICY?

Your SAT ® Checklist FROM SIENA COLLEGE Getting ready to take the SAT? To help you stress less and feel more organized, our admissions team has assembled this checklist of essential preparation tips for you and your parents. THE WEEK BEFORE If you haven’t yet registered, do so by the late registration deadline—which you can find listed at [CollegeBoard.org](CollegeBoard.org). Take several practice tests to get comfortable with the format; there is a reading test, writing and language test, math test and optional essay component. Time yourself, too. You’ll be given three hours (plus 50 minutes for the optional essay) to complete the test. Follow @CollegeBoard on Twitter for more SAT preparation tips, personalized study guide advice, news and more. Organize study dates with friends. Quiz each other, share notes and discuss practice test answers. Remember to relax. Schedule a few hours each week that is strictly ‘you’ time: turn off the computer, step away from your SAT prep books and do something fun. THE DAY BEFORE If you’ve never been to the test center before, take a drive there now so you know how long the ride is and how exactly to get there. Put everything you need to bring in the car. These include: Your admission ticket and valid photo ID Two No. 2 pencils and a soft eraser A graphing or scientific calculator and extra batteries A snack or drink for the break (Optional) Set your alarm and ask a family member to set one as well, then go to sleep at a reasonable hour. ON TEST DAY Eat breakfast and stay hydrated. Make sure you leave your cell phone, laptop, iPad and other electronic devices at home. Get to the test center early, giving yourself at least 15 minutes to relax and remind yourself you’ve done the best you can to prepare. FOR PARENTS There are a few things you can also do to help your student prepare: Check bookstores, libraries, online and in the guidance office at school for free or low-cost study guides and resources. Rest assured, there’s no need to shell out big money for testprep courses. Ask how you can be of assistance—whether that means timing practice tests, setting an extra alarm for test day or preparing breakfast that morning. Remind your student that you’re proud of how well he or she has prepared and you’re confident the test will go well. DID YOU KNOW SIENA COLLEGE HAS A TEST-OPTIONAL POLICY? That means you may have the option of not sending in your score with your application. Find out more here. We also invite you to reach out to us with any questions about the application process.
