The pre-admission variables accorded high importance by medical and dental school admissions personnel include: undergraduate overall & science GPA (BCPM [bio, chem, physics, math] o BCPM minimum for pre-med=3.7 o BCP minimum for dental = 3.3 [http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/onestop/records-and-transcripts/gpa-calculator](http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/onestop/records-and-transcripts/gpa-calculator) 􀀹 MCAT /DAT scores, o MCAT scores in 90th% for science and CARS section o DAT scores: minimum for sciences 20; quant, reading & PAT minimum 17, 􀀹 letters of evaluation, o at least two letters from science faculty for everyone (not lab instructors), letters for research, your major and minor, community service, paid employment, etc. 􀀹 involvement in health-related work experiences, o at least 150 hours of clinical work for pre-med o at least 100 hours of shadowing for pre-dent 􀀹 preparedness for the application process ratings from YC 􀀹 personal comments on AMCAS and supplemental applications, 􀀹 Involvement in extracurricular activities. In light of these variables, it is important for you to step back and assess your developing profile asan applicant to health professions schools.
