Sep 14, 2026

This document provides essential information about the SAT School Day, scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, 2024. All juniors at PBHS will take the SAT on this day. Key details include items to bring, such as an approved calculator, pencil or pen, and water with a snack. The document highlights the adaptive testing feature of the New Digital SAT, explaining that question difficulty adjusts based on previous responses for a more accurate evaluation. The purpose of the SAT is detailed, emphasizing its use for college admissions and scholarships, including specific amounts for Bright Futures. It reassures students that the SAT score does not define their individual worth, encouraging them to give their best effort as their rigorous coursework has prepared them. A breakdown of the SAT is provided, noting the optional essay and the combined Reading & Writing sections (54 questions, 64 minutes), which assess reading comprehension and writing skills, drawing from literature, science, and history. Writing questions specifically test grammar and effective language use, covering word choice, punctuation, editing, flow, and organization. The Math section consists of two parts (70 minutes, 44 questions) with a built-in calculator and reference sheet. Finally, the document strongly encourages students to take a SAT Digital Practice Test on the College Board site to familiarize themselves with the testing tools, question types, and navigation, and to learn from reviewing the answers.
