Theman’s wife was unable to have children. One day, the Angel of the Lord appeared to the wife and said,“You will give birth to a son. Judges 13:2-3 “So do not drink wine or eat forbidden food! You must dedicate the boy to the Lord from birth. Show this by never cutting his hair! He will begin to rescue Israel from the Philistines!” Judges 13:4-5 When her son was born, she named him Samson. He grew and the Lord blessed him. Judges 13:24 When Samson had grown to be a man, he saw a young Philistine woman in a nearby city called Timnah. He told his parents,“I want to marry this woman. Please arrange for her to be my wife.” Judges 14:1-2 His parents objected and said,“There must bean Israelite girl for you to marry.” Judges 14:3 But Samson said,“No. She is the one I want!”So his parents agreed to arrange the marriage. They did not realize that the Lord was preparing a way for Samson to defeat the Philistines. Judges 14:3-4 On the way to visit the woman, a lion attacked Samson! The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon Samson, and he killed the lion! But he did not tell anyone. Later, he saw that bees had made honey in the carcass, and he ate some. Judges 14:5-6,8-9
