This document presents a short play titled "Rat and Frog," written by Tandi Jackson and Michael John. The narrative follows Rat and Frog as they venture into the bush. During their exploration, Frog repeatedly mistakes various fruits for mangoes, including galip nuts and laulau, while Rat correctly identifies them. Their journey continues until they discover a plentiful supply of ripe fruit on the ground, which Rat confirms are indeed mangoes. The characters then indulge in eating the mangoes. Unbeknownst to them, a snake has been observing. The play culminates in a dramatic encounter where the snake reveals its predatory intent, threatening to eat both Rat and Frog, who are forced to flee. The dialogue highlights Frog's limited mobility, only being able to hop, which the snake mockingly suggests Frog should do directly into its mouth. The story serves as a simple narrative with a clear beginning, middle, and end, featuring animal characters and a predictable dramatic climax typical of children's literature.
