As indicated by the name,this is the second of rope,professionals in the field of psychiatry anda series of seminars held in the South-East Asianneurological sciences in this region knew muchregion which have for their main theme themore about what is going on in the professionalprogress made in the field of drug treatment ofscene in those metropolitan countries in Europepsychiatric disorders.These series of seminarsand what goes on in the United States better thanhave been made possible by the generous sponsor-what their counterparts in neighbouring countriesship of Roche Far East Researhc Foundation,are doing.Such seminars,therefore,provide a1108,Princess Building,Hong Kong.The initiationforum for the exchange of ideas between profes-of these series of meetings was to a large extentsionals working in similar fields in the countriesthe brain child of Professor R.Kusumanto Set-of this region.These week-Iong meetings alsoyonegoro,Chairman,Department of Psychiatry,afford a good opportunity for participating pro-University of Indonesia,Djakarta,Indonesia,underfessionals to get to know their counterparts inwhose very able leadership the first and veryneighbouring countries so that professional andsuccessful meeting was held from 23-28 March,personal relationship can be established and1970.The proceedings of that meeting weremaintained.The organising committee regrettedpublished as a supplementary issue of Majallahthat a number of invitees were unable to cone.OnDjiwa,the Indonesian Psychiatric Quarterly.the other hand,the participation of the luminariesfrom the United Kingdom,Australia and Japanwas most welcomed. Although the main emphasis of most of thepapers is psychiatric,especially related to the fieldof Psychotropic Medication,papers on otheraspects of Psychiatry were also presented at thisconference and there was a significant number ofpapers presented in Neurology and Neurosurgery.One of the four panel discussions was on"TheModern Treatment of Parkinson's Disease." It was the consensus of the participants in the1970 seminar in Djakarta that this series ofseminars should be held once in every two or threeyears.This feeling was reaffirmed in Kuala Lumpurin 1973 and it is hoped that the Roche Far EastResearch Foundation will continue to support thisenterprise,so that the interaction between pro-fessionals in the countries of the South-East Asianregions can continue. There are many reasons for this inclusion ofthe neurological sciences in this Seminar.Theparticipating professional organization in theSouth-East Asian regions are mostly "neurospy-chiatric"societies rather than separate neurologicaland psychiatric organizations as such.While thisarrangement may be due to deliberate choice insome situations,in other countries this is a verypragmatic expediency because of the relativelysmall number of professionals in the field ofpsychiatry and the neurological sciences.Thisarrangement is of course neither permanent noris it going to be a continuing trend in thefuture.Even during the period of the organizationof this meeting,moves h
