Plumbing Diagram - Single Zone on a S Plan System

Oct 25, 2026

This technical schematic illustrates the configuration of a single-zone S-plan central heating system. The diagram delineates the critical components and electrical connections required for optimal operation, including the boiler, circulating pump, automatic bypass valve, and two-port zone valves. It provides a detailed overview of the primary plumbing layout, emphasizing the flow paths between heat sources and heat emitters. This document serves as a foundational reference for understanding fluid dynamics and zone control mechanisms in modern hydronic heating installations, ensuring that technicians and engineers can accurately install or troubleshoot system components for maximum efficiency and thermal regulation across different residential heating circuits. The visualization clarifies the integration of UFH (underfloor heating) thermostats and the corresponding electrical switching logic, facilitating a comprehensive understanding of the system's operational architecture and control hierarchy.

FAQs

What does the diagram illustrate?

It illustrates a single-zone S-plan central heating system, showing the configuration of boilers, pumps, and valves.

What is the purpose of the 2-port valve?

The 2-port valve is used to control the flow of heated water to specific heating zones or the hot water cylinder based on thermostat signals.

How is the boiler activated?

The boiler is activated via the switch live signal received from the 2-port valves, which operate in conjunction with the system's thermostats.
