After teaching the Word of God for some time in Antioch, Paul said to Barnabas,“Let us return and visit the believers in all the towns where we preached. Then we can see how they are doing.” Barnabas wanted to take John Mark with them. But Paul did not think that was wise because during their first journey Mark had left them and not continued with them in the work. Because of this sharp disagreement, Paul and Barnabas separated. Barnabas took Mark with him and they sailed for Cyprus. Paul chose Silasand together they went through Syria and Cilicia encouraging all of the churches there. Paul traveled to Lystra where he met a follower of Jesus named Timothy. Timothy’s mother was a Jewish believer, and his father was a Greek. Paul wanted to take Timothy with him on his journey, so he had Timothy circumcised so they would not offend the Jews in those areas. As they traveled from town to town, they delivered the instructions for the believers to live a pure life as given by the apostles in Jerusalem. The churches became stronger in their faith and each day more people put their faith in the Lord. Paul and his companions went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, but the Holy Spirit prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia
