CHAPTER 41 42. EPILOGUE Jeoseung Saja Want more? Stalk me! [OceanofPDF.com](OceanofPDF.com) Thank you for choosing to read Paralyze, and the love story of Carey Novak and Jeon Wootek. As with book one of this series (Paradox), it would be remiss of me not to mention that Paralyze is an interracial romance, and acknowledge that I have written these characters, and their story, with references to a culture that isn't mine. Namely Korean/Korean-American. During the process of writing Paralyze, I drew upon already obtained knowledge, as well as diving deeper to educate myself where necessary. I also discussed certain aspects with a personal friend of Korean descent who shared with me their own experience with the Korean language in a 'predominantly English speaking' country, as well as their insights on growing up as a first generation child of Korean born parents. I would like to make it clear that I am in no way claiming to be an expert, nor am I suggesting that any person's journey is the same as another ’s. As always, it is my goal to be the best storyteller I can be, and thus acknowledge that the human experience involves deep and complex emotions and interpersonal relationships that are universal. The pressure to succeed placed on an individual by their parents, abandonment, or thereactions to a family member's sexuality, for example, are not racially or culturally exclusive, and it was not my aim to paint any such issues in that way. Having said this, I have provided a short glossary to help explain certain language and terms used by my characters within the pages of Paradox. Love is universal. Love is Love. Carey X Wootek. [OceanofPDF.com](OceanofPDF.com) PRONUNCIATIONS: -Wootek: The 'W' is silent. Oo-Tek -Jintae: Jin-Tay -Anaise: An-Ace Korean name order: In East Asia the family name is used first, and the given names are used after. It is also common to refer to a person by their full name, even when you are close/familiar with them. Wootek is Korean-American, but both his parents were born in Korea, and they choose to hold onto the traditional name order within their family. As a result of spending time with Wootek's family, Carey too uses the traditional name order when referring to the members. KOREAN WORDS & THEIR MEANINGS: Dokkaebi:
