Bacteriocin-like inhibitory substance (BLIS) shows strong inhibitory activity against oral pathogens, but high purity is required for safe and effective use in oral care products. Ionic liquid-based aqueous two-phase systems (ILATPS) were optimized to recover and purify BLIS from Enterococcus faecium CC2 using response surface methodology (RSM). ILATPS at pH 7, 40°C, and a defined composition achieved a purification factor of 4.406, recovery yield of 67.213%, and partition coefficient of 4.852, with inhibitory activity against Streptococcus mutans.
